Shoe, one of the most popular comic strips ever, continues to delight millions of readers in hundreds of newspapers from Tijuana to Timbuktu. The cast of nutty characters includes Shoe, the taskmaster, Perfesser Cosmo Fishhawk, the over-educated underachiever and Skyler, the under-educated overachiever. Front and center is Roz who feeds them all second-class food and first class putdowns.

Other featured players include Senator Batson D. Belfry, the beltway blowhard, Irving Seagull, fixer extraordinaire and Loon whose air rights or more accurately “wrongs” have set flight back a thousand years. And lets not forget the Wiz, the Merlin of Motherboards.

Shoe’s crack staff of Chris Cassatt, Gary Brookins and Susie MacNelly, keeps things hoppin’ with consistently fresh new material and lively art. Chris, who got enough training from Jeff to be a Jedi Knight, is lead dog. Gary, wields the brush in great MacNelly tradition, and Susie keeps the creative spirit on track.

Jeff MacNelly was one of the greatest cartoonists of all time. His death in June of 2000 dealt the chuckle racket a harsh blow. He harvested three Pulitzer Prizes for his editorial cartooning and twice collected cartooning’s highest award, the Reuben, for this comic strip.
